Under the Spotlight: Louise – Accounts & Purchasing Manager
Welcome to another edition of our “Under the Spotlight” feature, where we give you the chance to get to know the amazing individuals who help make Sinclair & Rush such a great place to work — all in a fun and relaxed way.
This time, we’re shining the spotlight on Louise, our Accounts & Purchasing Manager, who is proudly celebrating her 10-year work anniversary with the company!
Congratulations, Louise, on reaching this fantastic milestone! You first joined Component Force on 18th December 2011. Tell us about those early days — what was your role and who did you report to?
“I was originally recruited as a Credit Control & Accounts Assistant, reporting to Kim. It was my first proper job after leaving school, and I was so happy to be given the opportunity — especially with no experience at the time. I couldn’t wait to get started!”
Your career really took off following the acquisition of Component Force by Sinclair & Rush. How did you feel when you were offered the position of Accounts & Purchasing Manager after Janet’s retirement?
“First and foremost, I felt privileged. It was empowering to know people believed in me, even though I was still relatively young. It was definitely a challenge and a steep learning curve — but never dull! Contrary to what people may think, accounting isn’t boring.”
You’ve become our go-to financial expert! What are your day-to-day priorities, and what keeps you motivated?
“From an Accounts perspective, it’s about keeping the team running smoothly and hitting our deadlines — it's a very deadline-driven job. From a Purchasing perspective, it's making sure we’re raising purchase orders on time and chasing suppliers, so we stay on great terms with the Customer Service team!” (Louise laughs)
“Another key focus for me is looking after my team’s wellbeing — making sure no one feels overwhelmed and that they know they can always come to me for support.”
If you could give one piece of career advice to younger employees, what would it be?
“Always ask questions. Don’t be afraid to speak up professionally and raise your profile. You should always be learning and developing — there’s no such thing as knowing it all.”
And when you’re not at work, how do you like to unwind?
“I love walking my dogs, going to the gym, and doing yoga. I also enjoy watching my husband play rugby — when I’m not studying! I’d really like to get back into knitting too.”
